I have been avoiding to maintain a blog since long, the reasons can be attributed to my laziness, no actual need, or to my maverick attitude.
But now I think I have enough reasons to start a blog. No its not my visit to Korea, but its a book. The book is called "The Geography of thoughts" written by Richard E. Nisbett. The book was given to me by my professor at KAIST Prof. Kun, Pyo Lee. to read. I have always
The book talks about the difference in the cognitive process in the Western and Eastern way of looking at things.
If you were present/awake in a presentation by some researcher from Europe you might remember it. Fortunately I had woken at the right moment during the presentation to remember it. :-)
The person told us about a painting which had fishes big and small and then there was some sea weeds, corals.....ect.
The same painting was shown to US students and to Japanese student, and to a surprise almost all the US students noticed the big fishes (Big Picture attitude) i.e. the foreground only. While the Japanese students looked at different things but with relation to others i.e. Foreground in relation to the background (Contextual outlook)
